PFM crowns are a proven restorative option for dental clinics seeking a dependable balance of strength, fit, and aesthetics. Each PFM crown combines a metal coping with a veneering layer of porcelain. The metal substructure provides support and fracture resistance, while the porcelain surface delivers the color, texture, and light behavior needed for natural-looking restorations. For many clinical situations, the PFM crown remains a reliable, cost-effective workhorse—especially when clinicians need predictable function without the higher material cost of all-ceramic alternatives. For clinics comparing restorative materials, PFM crowns remain relevant for single units, bridges, and implant-supported restorations, with a long record of clinical use.
As a full-service dental laboratory based in Shenzhen, China, and founded in 2012, we fabricate custom PFM crowns for dental clinics in 30+ countries through a CAD/CAM digital dentistry workflow.
PFM Crown Range
We offer PFM crown options to match different clinical requirements, restorative goals, and budgets.
- Porcelain fused to non-precious metal (CoCr) crowns: CoCr copings provide a strong, economical framework for PFM restorations. They are commonly selected for posterior teeth, long-span needs, and cases where durability and value are primary considerations.
- Porcelain fused to high noble metal crowns: High noble alloys are chosen for their biocompatibility and corrosion resistance. These PFM crowns can be appropriate when clinicians want a more tissue-friendly metal substructure, stable margins, and reliable porcelain bonding.
- PFM by position: We fabricate PFM crowns for anterior, posterior, premolar, and molar positions. Front tooth PFM crowns can be layered to support esthetic expectations, while posterior, molar, and premolar PFM crowns are designed for occlusal function and strength. Each case is planned according to the dentist’s preparation, shade, and functional requirements.
- Specialty PFM options: Metal collar, metal lingual, and metal occlusal designs are available. These options let clinicians control where metal is visible or where additional strength is preferred, such as lingual or occlusal surfaces.
- PFM implant crowns: We produce PFM implant crowns as part of our implant restoration services, including single implant crowns and larger implant cases. They are designed to integrate with the clinician’s implant system and restorative plan.
All PFM options can be coordinated with your preferred preparation design, shade selection, and occlusion records.
Digital Design and Fabrication
PFM crown production at our lab is supported by Exocad and 3Shape design, CAD/CAM, 5-axis milling, and 3D printing. This digital workflow helps translate the clinician’s scan, impression, or model into a restoration with consistent contours, contacts, and occlusion. The metal coping and porcelain layering are completed with laboratory quality control at each stage.
We also fabricate a wider range of custom dental restorations, including PFM bridges, full-contour and layered zirconia crowns, lithium-disilicate (Emax) crowns and veneers, ceramic and composite inlays and onlays, removable dentures, implant restorations, retainers, and night guards.
Laboratory Services for PFM Cases
- Metal coping try-in service: Before final porcelain is applied, we can provide a metal coping try-in. This allows the clinician to verify fit, margin adaptation, and seating before the restoration is completed with porcelain. It is a practical step for complex or high-precision cases.
- PFM restoration repair and glazing: We offer repair and glazing services for PFM restorations when clinically appropriate. This can help restore surface smoothness and esthetics on existing PFM work that requires laboratory attention.
Both services are available as part of our full-service laboratory support for dental clinics.
